ONE MOTORSPORT ADDS TO BRITISH GT CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS TALLY AT SNETTERTON 300

One Motorsport came oh-so close to yet another podium finish last weekend (17/18 June) as the Intelligent Money British GT Championship reached the halfway mark of the 2023 season at Snetterton.

Taking centre stage at the Norfolk venue for a pair of 60-minute races, Ed McDermott and Mikey Broadhurst continued their charge in the GT4 Pro-Am ranks with a brace of hard-fought performances, that in-turn secured them a solid haul of points.

Heading into the fourth meeting of the seven-weekend schedule, McDermott and Broadhurst were once again behind the wheel of their spare Mercedes-AMG as repairs continue on their original chassis – which was involved in a sizeable accident at Donington Park.

Dialling in their rear-wheel-drive machine across Saturday’s two practice sessions, both drivers then embarked on what proved to be a frenetic qualifying session; with McDermott clinching an eighth place start for race one and Broadhurst fifth for race two.

Sunday’s opening encounter saw McDermott and Broadhurst enjoy a relatively trouble-free run to the chequered flag as they made up three positions in the GT4 Pro-Am Class to cross the line in fifth place.

Race two then saw the Brackley-based outfit narrowly miss out on a return to the rostrum as McDermott served up a virtuoso drive. Starting from fifth, Broadhurst kicked off proceedings with a strong opening stint before handing over the reigns to McDermott.

Firmly in the mix for silverware throughout, the 40-year-old ran as high as second heading into the closing laps however the cut and thrust of the podium battle saw him slip back to fourth with three laps to go.

Leaving Snetterton, One Motorsport sits fourth in the GT4 Pro-Am Championship standings.

Danny Buxton, Team Principal, said: “I’m delighted for Ed, Mikey and the team to come away from Snetterton having had a trouble-free weekend. We were so close to securing a podium in race two after some super stints from both drivers.

“Ed progressed well over the course of both days at Snetterton, especially as he hadn’t done too much there previously other than test once. We’re now looking forward to heading out to Portimao and we’re confident of bringing home some silverware.”

The Intelligent Money British GT Championship season continues at Autodromo do Algarve in Portugal on the weekend of 21-23 July.
