ONE MOTORSPORT BOUNCE BACK TO SCORE FAMOUS MCLAREN TROPHY VICTORY AT THE NURBURGRING

One Motorsport bounced back from a sizeable accident to score a famous victory in the latest rounds of the McLaren Trophy at the Nurburgring this past weekend (28-30 July).

Reaching the halfway point in the season at the famous German circuit, David Foster and Bradley Ellis produced a sensational performance in the series’ second contest to triumph in commanding style.

Having claimed a pair of Pro-Am victories at the Paul Ricard season-opener and swiftly followed that up with further silverware at Spa-Francorchamps, Foster and Ellis headed into the third event of the 2023 campaign with high hopes.

Those hopes soon became a reality during Saturday morning’s qualifying session as the pair blitzed the field in qualifying to claim pole position amongst the Pro-Am ranks.

As the lights went out, the duo soon settled into a groove and looked comfortably on course to record victory before heavy contact occurred while innocently passing another car at mid-distance ended the team’s chance of glory on the spot.

With a sizeable amount of damage to fix overnight, the Brackley-based squad set to work, and their efforts were rewarded on Sunday morning as Foster punched in a sensational lap in qualifying to secure another class pole position – which was also good enough for fourth overall.

Lining up on the second row of the grid for the weekend’s finale, Foster and Ellis were wheel-perfect throughout the entirety of the 50-minute bout as they cruised to the top step of the podium – putting a full lap on all of their class rivals in the process.

Danny Buxton, One Motorsport Team Principal, said: “Talk about the highs and lows of motorsport; we certainly experienced that this weekend! I’m absolutelydelighted for David and Brad, especially after the incident which ended our Saturday.

“David’s qualifying lap on Sunday morning was just outstanding and a real highlight for me. It’s also a great reward for the crew after their efforts repairing the car. Bring on Hockenheim!”

The penultimate event of the 2023 McLaren Trophy will see One Motorsport return to Germany on 1-3 September for two races at Hockenheim.
