ONE MOTORSPORT AIMING HIGH AS BTCC HEADS TO SNETTERTON
One Motorsport will hope to make its mark towards the sharp end of the field when the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship heads to Snetterton this weekend (May 24-25) for the third round of the 2025 season.
The Brackley-based squad has so far shown flashes of speed on its return to the UK’s premier motorsport series but a front-running result is yet to fall the way of drivers Josh Cook and Stephen Jelley; although confidence is high that one isn’t too far away now.
Coming off the back of making his 300th BTCC start and tallying two top-six finishes at Brands Hatch, Cook in particular heads to the Norfolk circuit in a buoyant mood and full of optimism as to what can be achieved in his refined Honda Civic Type R.
After cruelly being denied a podium at Donington Park, and then subsequently fighting back from a difficult qualifying last time out, the two-time Independent Drivers’ champion is focused on having a solid Saturday which he then hopes will set him up for an even stronger race day.
Team-mate Jelley meanwhile has continued to make improvements as he re-adjusts to front-wheel-drive and his reward at Brands Hatch was an appearance in Q2 during qualifying and then a brace of points-paying finishes the following day.
Building on that progress will be the target for the 43-year-old as heads to what is the longest circuit on the calendar – which is packed with long straights, heavy barking zones and plenty of overtaking spots.
Qualifying at Snetterton will be broadcast on the ITV Sport YouTube channel on Saturday from 15:10 before all three races are aired LIVE on ITV4 and ITVX on Sunday. Race one is scheduled to begin at 11:30 ahead of race two at 14:20 and race three at 16:55.
Steve Dudman, Team Owner: “The first two race meetings have proven to be a challenging return for us as a team but I think what is clear to see is that we are beginning to make quick progress on something that’s looking very positive.
“Since Brands Hatch the team has worked tirelessly back at base and the aim this weekend is to roll out with a car that can contend towards the front from the get-go. If we can do that, Josh and Stephen will be in the mix for some top results – that I have no doubt.”
Stephen Jelley: “Every time I’m getting behind the wheel of the car we are taking steps forward and the changes we are making are having the desired effect. Everyone in the team has been working so hard so it would be great to repay them with some strong results.
“Like always, staying out of trouble is going to be important but if we can fight inside the top ten on Sunday and come away with a solid haul of points then that will be another encouraging box we can tick off.”
Josh Cook: “Results haven’t been what we had hoped for so far this season but we’ve demonstrated that we’re moving in the right direction. Going into this weekend I feel like we’re in a good place!
“We’ve got a nice amount of boost deployment to play with and around a circuit like Snetterton that is going to have a huge impact, especially in qualifying. If we can maximise that on Saturday then it should put us in the mix for Sunday’s three races.”
