ONE MOTORSPORT WITH STARLINE RACING AIMS TO BOUNCE BACK AS BTCC HEADS TO SILVERSTONE

One Motorsport with Starline Racing have their sights set on silverware this weekend (23/24 September) as the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship takes centre stage at Silverstone for the penultimate event of the 2023 season.

As the UK’s premier motorsport series heads towards its final showdown next month, the Brackley-based outfit is poised to make the short drive to its home track for three blockbuster races around the 1.64-mile National Circuit.

Josh Cook, Aiden Moffat and Jade Edwards will all head to the Home of British Motor Racing eager to bounce back from what proved to be a frustrating outing in their trio of Honda Civic Type Rs at Donington Park.

Cook arrives at Silverstone sitting on the cusp of retaining his Independent Drivers’ title however whilst securing that honour is one target, standing on the top step of the podium is another for the 32-year-old.

“I’m looking forward to getting to Silverstone and I’m optimistic that we should have a package that can run towards the front,” he said. “Donington Park was frustrating for the whole team but since then everyone has put in the work back at base to ensure we take another step forward.

“Silverstone on paper looks pretty simple because its just three straights and a few corners; but it is quite technical. You need a car that is good in a straight line and that can carry the speed through the slow bits – something that the Honda Civic Type R has always excelled at.

“We’re closing in on the Independent Drivers’ title for a second successive year – which is great – but for me I’m all about going for outright wins between now and the end of the season. If there is any opportunity that arises this weekend, I’ll be going all-out to take it!”

Also aiming for glory will be Moffat, who was a winner at the Northamptonshire venue back in 2018. Having produced a number of eye-catching performances over the course of the season, the Scotsman is keen to get back towards the sharp end of the grid.

Moffat said: “Down the years Silverstone has been somewhat of a happy hunting ground for me so I’m eager to see what we can do. It’s a track that always produces close racing and I don’t see that changing this weekend; qualifying is going to be as crucial as ever.

“Over the course of the season we’ve been making consistent progress to improve the car and huge credit has to go to everyone at One Motorsport. I’m fully focused on bringing back a big result; it’ll be the perfect reward for the entire team who have been exceptional this year.”

Having come oh-so close to scoring points on a number of occasions since rejoining the team during the summer break, local star Edwards is hoping to wow the home crowd and break into the top 15 for the first time this season.

“Silverstone is both mine and the team’s home race, so I’m looking forward to having a big crowd of people there in support of us all,” she said.

“With only two events left of the season, I’m keen to have a positive weekend – and I’ll be working hard with Josh, Aiden and the rest of the team to bring home the best results possible.”

Saturday’s two-part qualifying session will be streamed live via ITV Sport’s YouTube channel whilst all three BTCC contests on Sunday will be available to watch on ITV4.

Race one is scheduled to begin at 11:30 before race two blasts into action at 14:25. The reverse grid finale will then round out proceedings at 17:10.
